Eating a Balanced Diet.


A balanced diet refers to intake of appropriate types and adequate amounts of food and drinks to supply nutrition and energy for maintaining body cells, tissues and organs and to support normal growth and development.


An easy way to make sure you have a balanced diet is your food intake by comparing the five groups and the food pyramid to plan and modify, if necessary.


Five major food groups


It 'important that you eat a balanced diet with foods from all five major food groups. Selecting a variety of foods and between food groups is important.


Each food group provides more different foods of certain nutrients than others. This prevents excessive consumption of nutrients and the monotony of flavor.


Tips for healthy eating-


Reduce the amount of fat and sugar foods in the kitchen or at the table.


Choose fewer foods high in sugar (eat fewer sweets, desserts, sweets and soft drinks).


Choose foods low in fat and sugar than other five food groups often.


Drink skim milk and nonfat yogurt often.


Choose lean meats, skinless poultry and beans, fish and peas often.


Prepare meats in low fat:


Cut all the fat.


Remove skin from chicken.


Use nuts and seeds in moderation.


Eating a variety of vegetables.


Include green leafy vegetables and legumes several times a week.


Using legumes instead of meat.


Closing the gaps or add ingredients as butter, mayonnaise and seasoning.
